Does anyone think the Wade Miley from the Dbacks can oust Bryce Harper from this award? Harper is the media darling but Miley is 9-3 with a 2.2 era. Also Miley is from Louisiana so he's a good local talent to follow.

I think he has a decent chance at it. Guys on MLB radio just this morning were talking about this very thing. Also pondered if Middlebrooks could beat out Mike Trout.

Middlebrooks is going to be a consistent all-star, but that BABIP is very high and unsustainable.

I give it a push. Unfortunately for Miley, he is deserving but not the attention grabber that Harper is.

well I get they are doing a talk show but that's just not happening either

Trout/Harper run away with it in both leagues IMO

I don't see either falling off a cliff but that's the only way either gets overtaken

I'm a Diamondbacks fan, so I'm rooting for him.

If he performs as well as he has the rest of the year, he'll be deserving. Harper will probably still win, though.

I, in no way shape or form, am debating that WMB should win the rookie of the year, but its still a topic that has discussable merit.

Fair enough. Trout has the narrative that as soon as he arrived the angels turned their season around. It is likely pure coincidence but it is what it is. Both players will be fun to watch for years to come which is good for baseball.

It's Trout vs Darvish in the AL. It all will depend on the 2nd half of the season, but it's close either way.

I really don't think it is. Miley had been more valuable to his team and has better stats so far in the season. He is the only reason Arizona has a chance to win their division. Harper is fantastic and he was made out to be the second coming of Willie Mays by the media before he stepped foot on the diamond. If Miley wins 15 or 16 games as a rookie and keeps his era in the 2's then he has to have a fighters chance.

If they both duplicate their 1st half numbers in the 2nd half, Miley will win going away. Writers can be stupid, but not that stupid.

On pace for 200+ strikeouts with below a 3.5 ERA. He's also tied for the AL leader in wins. Not too shabby of stats. Plus he plays for the Rangers so he will have a lot of chances for wins.

Wins are a pretty useless stat for a pitcher. Darvish's whip is over 1.4 which is pretty bad.
