sometimes shite on a stick will work....it just depends on their mood. Ive heard of people catching them on everything from hardheads or sand crabs to squid or dead shrimp. Caught a 60lb Cobia once while fishing EI blocks and after we got the damn thing settled down with a "tap" from the fish bat it barfed up a legless crab.

cobia just moved into the Chesapeake and I'm going to give them a try tomorrow. A local said to use crabs, cut bait, or eels. I'm going to try crabs as I have a full crab trap. Don't know what I'm doing but what the hell...

Just put a whole live crab on a hook. Don't worry about cracking it. There's a reason the call them crab crunchers.

Somebody told me to skin a hardhead and slice the fillets into strips and most other fish won't eat it.
He said fish it on the bottom.
Just a fish story..Never did it.
