What constitutes walking/traveling in the NBA nowadays? Just saw a promo commercial about game 5, they show a superstar driving to the bucket and take every bit of three full steps before laying it up.

You are allowed 2 steps after you gather or catch the ball

NBA refs typically let guys get away with an extra step driving through traffic, but every slow-mo clip of a dribble drive looks like a travel regardless. it's hard to tell when they actually pick up the dribble and start the 2 steps.

Well I knew about the two steps, but as a stated this said superstar took three. I even told my 10 year old to back the DVR and we watched in slo-motion. Just checking to see if any rules had changed.

Basically. They're allowed to take a step while gathering and then the two steps.

I just wish people would stop complaining about it since the NBA rule for travelling has been changed and is different from other leagues. It's not a travel, if the rules allow it.
