whats some good recent releases that are just plain entertaining. not looking for groundbreaking movies that should be considered for oscars just want a fun movie. for reference: watched ghost protocol last week looking for some movies of that entertainment value.

1. Goon
50. Haywire (just action - a little thinking)
100. Gone (it's pretty dumb but it's non-stop popcorn girl against a killer and nobody believes her. So it's actually sort of good in a turn off your brain...Sandra Bullock in the Net or Ashley Judd in Double Jeopardy...sort of way.)
(And John Carter was entertaining)

Kill the Irishman
I think it's a year old but very enjoyable move. It's based on gang/mafia in Cleveland in the 1970s.
And Christopher Walken is in it so win-win

quote:this one looks the most intriguing so far. like the concept a little concerned about gina carano and channing tatum having lead roles but pretty good plot might give it a shot

Her acting is the complete opposite of her chest.
You can feel the monotone in her voice.
The movie tries to be tricky...one of those - it sort of jumps right in and everyone talks quietly about their assignment and code words and you feel as if the movie started half-way through - it settles down into chases and killings...and has a decent plot resolution at the end.

I second (or third) Haywire. It is a good popcorn flick. Good mixture of action/dialogue.

Just watched Chronicle yesterday. Good and short popcorn flick. Only 84 minutes.

I can't watch anything with that Tatum fella. He's the worst actor in the business IMO.
Are you a big movie buff looking for something new? Hard to suggest something if we don't know how deep to dig.
My answer: Have you seen every Pixar film? Those are the best popcorn flicks hands down.
I'm just going to assume you're not too into movies and you want some solid suggestions.
"serious movies":
Slumdog Millionaire
Man on fire
Good Will Hunting
Blow
"Comedies"
Forgetting Sarah Marshal
Wedding Crashers
Action:
The Dark Night
Gladiator
V for Vendetta
If you've seen them all, just reply in the same manner as my girlfriend, "Deeper"
