Dot and the Kangaroo (Spin off from movies that freaked me out as a kid)

Does anyone remember this movie from their childhood? I used to watch it every time it was on, but was always sad at the end when the Kangaroo hops away with Dot crying for her to come back. And it also upset me that the Kangaroo never finds her baby.
