Grand Isle fishing this weekend

Anyone gonna be down there? Uncle Jack D and I will be there. Leaving Thursday. Hope the wind dies down and the rain stops. Supposed to have a sharp falling tide ALL day Friday. :knockonwood:

Has anyone ever fished the rock barrier on the west side of the island where Hwy 1 enteres Grand Isle? A friend told me you can fish there from the shore and catch trout all day long. Any truth to that?

You talking about the rocks in the pass? We caught some nice trout there before around this time of the year. We were fishing out of a boat. The first day we were 1 of 6 or 7 boats and the only guy that was catching was fishing minnows on bottom. We went back the next afternoon and we were the only boat catching on minnows under a cork right up against the rocks. It was tricky to find a spot where we wouldn't get hung up, but once we found it they were hitting like crazy. Trout were right against the rocks, any further than 3' away from them and we wouldn't get a bite.
