I don't have any kids but I can't imagine handling this any different if I caught someone doing this. What kind of repercussions will the dad face for this if any?

If he faces negative reprocessions for this, then America is dead to me. The man was doing a public service as far as I'm concerned.

He didn't shoot him on live tv in front of a bunch of cops. Plauche got extremely lucky he didn't get life in prison. This is way different

A girl I know was molested by a guy when she was a kid. Her parents found out and her dad either beat the hell out of the guy or killed him. He did some time and when he got out they were all on the Montel Williams show.

to me, it was justifiable to kick his arse but beating him to death was too far imo
either way, the father shouldnt get more than a few years if things go badly

He'd have probably been better off shooting the guy instead of beating him
It's more of a quick decision, bearing him seems a little more thought out if that makes sense
