Would the outcome have been any different if Gausman had started Friday ?

Timely homeruns aside, the baseball gods smiled on us in the first game thanks to a misplayed foul ball, an overthrow error at fist base, and a bloop single to centerfield that somehow found grass around 3 fielders in the 12th inning. We are lucky to be playing Sunday. Would the outcome have been any different if we had stuck with our normal weekend rotation- Gausman/Nola/Eades ? GEAUX TIGERS !! GEAUX EADES !!!

Better question is would SB still score 2 runs in the 3rd if it hadn't poured?

I think Gausman would have had better command if he had played in the much better conditions yesterday.

No, Johnson is a damn good pitcher, but I have yet to see anyone give him credit on this site (haven't checked the game thread and don't plan on it). I just tip my hat to the guy and move on to tomorrow.

Problem wasn't with pitching or fielding yesterday.

Problem was with the bats.

Same thing today.

We can hit. We've done it. We're just inconsistent. Some series we would light it up, then be completely dead in the second and then hit well in the third.

Just unpredictable.

So I'm predicting they will be hitting tomorrow

THIS. SBU should be on their way to Omaha right now.

ETA: that being said, we come out & rock their #3 tomorrow. But I have 0 confidence n Eades. Tomorrow comes down to who hits (in the clutch) last.

I agree. Johnson should get all the credit. Their ace against our ace. We just come up short today. Now my concern is do we win the slugfest tomorrow?
