My son will be graduating in 2013. He has received emails from colleges telling him they are offering him a baseball scholarship but they are not allowed to call him until July 1 of this summer.. In baseball they only give out 11.5 scholarships per team. Would it be Rude to call them and ask how much of a scholarship are you offering because i don't want to wait until july 1 for them to call him ...FYI he is a 6'4 RHP pitcher throwing 90

Most only get 1/2 a scholarship. Do the numbers.

imo, calling is not the way to handle it. that should be done face to face. you have plenty of time to arrange for visits. you can go on your own dime anytime they'll see ya. the letter itself, no matter what it says, may not actually be an offer. it could be rescinded at any time. i have been down this road before. my son ended up with a 70% schollie but had a number of "offer" letters that didn't turn out. also, if a school doesn't offer an official visit and give y'all a pitch, they probably ain't really that interested. good luck!
