The Gumps don't like their own kids...

Only 6 of 14 2013 Gump recruits are home state,
9 of 10 2013 Tiger recruits are home state.
If all schools had to play with in-state kids, we'd be National Champs every year.
Another reason I love my Tigahs.

I think having so much in-state talent with little to no recruiting competition gives LSU a huge advantage not only from the standpoint of talent but in passion for the home state team, as well. Most of these kids now being recruited in Louisiana were 1st and 2nd graders in Saban's first year at LSU. They have grown up following and loving LSU and cannot remember a time when LSU sucked. They play with a deep wellspring of genuine pride and love for LSU.

I think you are right on all points. I really believe that our "per capita" talent AND ability to recruit in-state is at the highest level. That makes rootin' for the home team so much sweeter (than being a bama fan)!

I'd imagine it saves a ton a money as well.
FWIW, I don't mind grabbing a couple OOS prospects especially if they're top 10 in their POS.

Well it seems bama can get any kid from any state any year. If LSU doesn't get the best in this state then we are fricked.

this is a dangerous philosophy. A lot of programs have strayed from their roots for national guys and the program slipped as a result.
Bobby B. built f.s.u. on florida kids, he started recruiting national, program slipped.
Florida built their program on florida kids, much due to bowden focusing on national guys, got on top, then urban went national. it's the reason their talent isn't the same as it was. (jimbo has been making hay as a result).
u.s.c. under carol, built his program on local guys like bush, leinart, palmer, ect. went national, started slipping. now they are coming back a little.
Tenn. started relying on national recruiting towards the end of fulmer's era and started slipping.
notre dame recruits national.
It's harder to evaluate national kids. therefore, you can miss on a lot of guys.
Saban can recruit national, however, he can lose his base doing this and if he has some misses, the program can slip. Not saying he will, if anyone has the work ethic to spend the hours evaluating guy's accross the country it's him. however, it is a dangerous game.
You build your foundation on local and regional recruits. if you can supplement some national guys with that, then you have a great recipe. If you rely on national guys, then you are going to have some issues. (home sick, character, loyalty, passion, ect)

Or they just do a good job pulling talent from OOS. probly the 8 of 14 are better then 8 players from in state but I might be mistaken.
Weird thread

Let me explain this weird thread. We are at the top of college football, along with Bama... But we are doing it with kids from right here at home, as opposed to the Gumps. You can argue whether Bama's dominance with OOS players is a good thing BUT I KNOW that winning with your homestate kids is better.
And If this is what you call weird, you need to spend a little more time reading Tha Rant.
