Nola took the loss, but his stuff tonight was very, very good. He hasn't had this kind of stuff since his "injury".

This performance gives me a lot of optimism moving forward. If Nola keeps the stuff he had tonight, it gives LSU a legitimate advantage in game 2 in just about any Super Regional.

Yep, his shite is electric. Just ran into that 1 bad inning that has plagued him all year.

Once again tho, we fail to put a team away when we have them in the ropes.

I don't think that applies tonight. His stuff was really good and that didn't affect him at all. He made one very big mistake and it cost him.

But, given that heading into this game, people were concerned about our starting pitching after Gausman his stuff was a much bigger story than the loss, IMO.

I don't think it has to do with his stuff but more of his mental make up. For him to go to the next level he has to "get over" a big hit or an error. Unfortunately after he gives up a big hit it is usually followed by a couple of more hits. He goes from dominating to giving up four runs.

You're right, we really had the killer instinct tonight.

Back on topic Eades is due tomorrow. If he can get us a quality start & get the ball to our bullpen w/ a lead, we should be in good shape.

You may have a point about his mental makeup. But since the injury, he had lost several mph on his fastball. It is HUGE that he had the stuff he had tonight. There was no guarantee it was going to come back this year and probably was unlikely given that his velocity had been down for several weeks.

Nola is a stud. When he gets more experience, watch out. He can locate....

Big game.

But getting a quality outing out of Eades would be icing on the cake. If Nola pitches like he did tonight, I think we have a real good chance of getting to Omaha...much better than I thought we had heading into this game.

looking at South Carolina's stats, I'd imagine one of these guys will start

Jr. RHP Colby Holmes: 6-0, 3.29 ERA, 52 IP, 44 K, 12 BB, .242 OBA

Fr. LHP Jordan Montgomery: 4-1, 4.42 ERA, 55 IP, 40 K, 6 BB, .276 OBA

neither with noteworthy numbers

Well, Dozar hit the ball about as hard far as he possibly could early in the game. Still, we kept the pressure on all game. Even when we were behind we threatened in the 7th and the 8th.

If the strike zone doesn't expand the way it did, there is a good chance that we score a run or two more.

Yea numerous sketchy strike calls down the stretch cost us. I think we come out guns a blazing tomorrow

No doubt. The ump called several strikes late in the game that were clearly balls. But he did that on both sides.
