Mikie Mahtook at Stone Crab game last night

I hope I didn’t put the Gris Gris on Mikie Mahtook. I went to see his Charlotte Stone Crab team play in Ft Myers last night. Mikie was on a 6 game hitting streak. 5 of those were multi-hit games with 2 doubles the night before.
I had never been to the Ft Myers stadium and figured this was a great night to go. Fortunately, it was two for Tuesday: two hot dogs, soft drinks or beers for the price of one. $9.50 got a seat right behind home plate. The lineup near the concession area had Mikie playing CF and batting 3rd.
In his first three at bats Mikie flew out to right, hit into a double play and then struck out. Mikie lead off the top of the ninth by ripping a double down the left field line and eventually scored the game winning run. He also made a very nice running catch of a line drive near the gap in left field.
So the game ended better than it started for this tiger fan. Good luck to Mikie. I’d love to drive up to Tampa and watch him perform in the big league.

I refuse to ever step foot in the atrocity that is Tropicana Field unless Mikie Mahtook is in the Rays starting lineup.

What was the actual attendance at the game? I'm curious how that team's attendance compares to LSU. Thanks.

I'm sure it doesn't.

How many games have you been to in Tropicana Field? I go to about 30 a year and there is nothing wrong with the dome. Only the crowd which is pathetic unless the Yankees, Red Sox, or interleague games are in town. And the product on the field is awesome. But the Dome itself is not too bad and you are not dying of heat stroke either.

I was talking more about the actual field and just how ugly it is.

Dude it really is shitty.

The crowd is for sure. But for me being indoors here makes a huge difference. I go to the Saints/Bucs game every year and it is miserable if it is played in Sept or early Oct. Hard to make it thru it is so hot. And I am used to the weather being from LA. So I just dont think it is as bad as most say it is. The experience is good inside but it is located in the hood. I am basically saying most people that criticize it have never been there.

I mean I bet the experience is awesome, all MLB ballparks are great experiences. It's just when I'm watching a game held at Tropicana Field, I can't help but be distracted at how shitty the field looks.
ETA: I'm just pissed that the effing Marlins get a brand new stadium before the Rays do

Ok I have to agree with that for sure. Can't wait for Mikie to get here. Will be sporting my purple and gold to games.

Are they trying to grow real grass inside a dome??

It's turf. Just has a weird look to it in person and on tv. Actually a pretty fun place to watch a good team.
