Hornets Colors black and gold/yellow?

I knew that Charlotte's WFL team was the Hornets but I did not know they were black and gold/yellow.
I wonder why Teal and purple were chosen as their colors and not black and gold...

This is definitely true. Still to this day the Hornet snapback is very popular with the urban youth of America.

Just look at a lot of the other expansion franchizes from the 90s or teams that changed color schemes over that decade from the late 80s into the late 90s. Teal and purple were ridiculously popular after what the Hornets did.

The Grizzlies have been through some aweful uniforms.
I think it would just end up looking like Georgia Tech at that point.
