I've tried to get him excited, getting in myself, putting food back there....and he just looks at me like he's thinking "Are you f**king crazy?".

He likes to ride once he is in, isn't afraid to jump out, and is one year old.

Any suggestions?

Throw his favorite toy in there, he'll go get it

Put an intermediate step to start with. A box or something that will hold his weight. Get him to playing fetch by having that box there, and tossing his toy into the truck.

Thanks, I'll try the step. I've tried throwing his duck back there and he gets excited, runs around, and starts pissing everywhere but he won't try to jump.

I started by getting mine excited as all hell then running and throwing his toy in the bed

You can also try and help him jump up there a few times. On my old truck, my dog was younger and would try and make it only half way sometimes. Now, he kind of sits there for a second and I tell him to "get up" and he goes

Back up into a ditch (aka make the bed lower and easier for them to get in)

Play fetch with him for a little bit and one time accidentally throw his toy in the truck.

This is the correct answer. Build confidence and gradually move the tailgate higher. I have my dogs taught to go over the tailgate. They jump to the bumper then catch another boost to get them over the gate.

This.

I had mine trained to go in his kennel by saying "kennel". I put the kennel in my truck, backed up to a hill and told her "kennel" she had to jump a little to get in, went straight in the box, easy to learn. Next I associated everything I want her to get in or on (boat, blind, four wheeler, truck, house, etc) with the world "kennel".
