Will Romney, if elected, really do anything to get our financial house in order?

I'm not convinced that he's any different than Bush or Obama. Explain to me why I'm wrong because I'm honestly curious.

You're not. That still means there's a chance he'll be different (better?) than Bush or Obama.

If that's my only real choice, I guess I'll take it.

Obama has taken some criticism from those on the Left during his tenure. They want change (for the worse IMO) faster than reality can accommodate.

Now if you think that Romney will just ignore the ever increasing size of GOVT under Obama well.... If the fat doesnt get trimmed the right (who have endured obama's anticsthe last 4 years) will make the lefts criticism of obama look like compliments.

in other words.....he better deliver or he too will be a 1 termer.

Good description. These are my feelings as well.

Yeah I mean I would put my feelings on social issues aside for the most part if there was an candidate that I really was convinced had a legitimate and realistic plan to put us back on solid footing, even if I didn't necessarily agree with the means of that plan. But if it's going to be pretty much more of the same regardless of who the POTUS is then why not just vote for Obama who at least mirrors my feelings on social issues?

What are the important "social issues" for which you think Obama is "mirroring" your feelings, such that you are under the impression that Mitt Romney will somehow be able to affect something different, and is expressing a desire to do so via his current platform?

Solid footing means balanced budget to me. I don't expect to ever see that again (happened under Clinton/Gingrich) in my lifetime.

I guess for me in the immediate future it just means "not driving straight towards the cliff"

Will he? Recent history says no, but I have more confidence in him to do it than someone who's already proven that they're just going to try to Ponzi scheme they're way out of it.

If I'm Romney's campaign, I would be absolutely shoving his Bain and Olympics experience in the voters' face at every opportunity. That's what he's done for most of his career is turn crappy situations profitable. This is his single slam dunk selling point that no amount of capital gains tax red herring BS will be able to overcome.

:rotflmao No, why do you conservatives are so against him?

Romney is to the left of Bush but to the right of Obama. So we'll still have large deficits & debt no matter who wins.

I mean I realize Romney is pretty moderate, but my personal voting habits (much like America's) isn't about voting against someone. I'm not going to vote for Romney just because he's not Obama, even if I am disappointed with what Obama has done with his first term. Who is Mitt Romney? What is his vision for America and how is he going to get us there? Right now I don't really know the answers to those questions because when Romney speaks all I hear are the same old tired cliches I've heard from politicians my whole life. It just makes me He reminds me a lot of John Kerry in that way.

If he goes that way, he's losing it for sure. All you're doing with the "I'm not X other candidate" talk is appeasing the far side that's already voting for you.

thats a legitimate answer.
i thought you were saying that since you dont like the alternative, you are going to vote for obama even though you dont like him.
that wouldnt make sense to me. not voting, does.

Meh. I just want an executive in the executive office. I'm tired of the "he's so cool" routine. I think Romney has more substance, even if that substance is of a boring, administrative quality.

It is your right not to vote. But you not voting for Romney does not cancel out a vote for Obama so.....dont complain if Obama is elected again. Essentially you did nothing to stop it.

I have no doubt he'll try harder than Obama.

Repealing Obama care and extending Bush tax cuts will both help the economy (one increases the deficit while the other decreases it).

I also think Romney is more likely to get into entitlement reform, not near enough but more so than Obama.

He won't restrict domestic energy production as Obama has, which is great for the economy, jobs and national security.
