What would the BPL table look like with no incorrect referee decisions?

LINK

The article is more for fun than anything else. Nothing to be taken too seriously.

They also compiled a table of which teams benefited the most from poor referee decisions this season. Stoke has benefited the most with a decision differential of +17, while Liverpool and Arsenal are tied for last with a differential of -11.

I find it odd that only 1 of the top 4 teams have a positive decision differential. Really puts into perspective the theory that referees favor the big clubs.

ETA The "decisions" they went back and looked are only the ones that directly affect goals. Offside, penalties, corners given incorrectly, whether the ball crossed the line, etc.

Not surprising at all. I feel like Arsenal have been jobbed quite a bit this season. Especially on PKs.

I'll be honest they're the first ones i looked for after that stretch of 5 goals where only 1 was clearly legit. But apparently some stuff early in the year made up for it didn't watch em that much then though.

i do see a pattern... maybe refs are being told to level the field for relegation level teams at the big boys? you'd think stoke gets more calls at the Britannia in front of their notoriously loud fans

It's difficult to calculate the number of calls that went for or against a certain club's way during a game, not just calls that directly affect a goal-scoring opportunity.

I still firmly believe big clubs receive favoritism in the end.

Roughly the same, it's a 38 game season. It evens out.

I don't know, last month wigan got cheated out of seemingly 5-10 points.. When even 3 points is huge for those teams at the bottom right now I find it hard to be ok with that kind of logic

Especially when most of them could be fixed in 30 seconds of replay.. Adding up to a grand total of 2-3 minutes a game at most

Not really. The top 3 and Wolves are the only ones that wouldn't have changed. Every single other team would be in a different position.

For example:

QPR would have 8 extra points and would be out of the relegation zone.
Blackburn would have 6 less and would be in the relegation zone.

On the subject:

Preferential Treatment?

Yeah, it's ESPN, but decent read.

And it might have been posted already, so SIAP.
