George Zimmerman released from jail

SANFORD, Fla. - George Zimmerman was released around midnight Monday from a county jail on $150,000 bail as he awaits his second-degree murder trial for fatally shooting Trayvon Martin.

The neighborhood watch volunteer was wearing a brown jacket and blue jeans and carrying a paper bag. He met a man in a white vehicle and drove away. His ultimate destination is being kept secret for his safety and it could be outside Florida.

Circuit Judge Kenneth Lester said at a hearing Friday he cannot have any guns and must observe a 7 p.m.-to-6 a.m. curfew. Zimmerman also surrendered his passport....

This was definitely a big frick you to the national media.

Question: How does one go about raising bail money, especially a substantial amount like $150,000? Do you ask friends & family....take a loan? Also when you go back for your actual heariing, do you get the bail money back?

In the same context, how do bail bondsmen make their money? Do they charge their client a fees for bailing them out? How do they know that the criminals they represent will even pay them back?

Bail bondsmen charge a non-refundable fee of 10% of the amount of the bail. If you have property or cash for the entire amount, you can post that with the court instead and save the bondsman's fee.

Zimmerman's father is a retired judge of some sort so I imagine 150K doesn't present that much of a problem for them. BTW, I have wondered how many scrapes Zimmerman has been in that didn't go on his record due to the old man's intervention.

As Powerman said, the person puts up 10%, the bail bondsman puts up the rest. That's his fee.

So the prosecution's "not only immoral, but stupid" case has already cost Zimmerman $15,000.00 + legal expenses?

I think GZ is going to be a very rich man if he is not convicted when it is all said and done.

Good for George. Things are looking up for him over the past week and hopefully an innocent person will be acquitted of the absurd charges against him.

Yup.... I hope the judge at the hearing next week throws the entire case out. Zimmermann then sues the frick out of ABC, NBC, and Jesse and moves out of the country.

*** Let me clarify that I hope the judge throws it out if the facts we have seen and the display of the prosecutor at the hearing is all that the state has. If there is some damning evidence that we haven't seen, then he should be put on trial ***

No he's not. I watched the bond hearing and he's living on a fixed income.

Nah... MSNBC will try to hire him to compete with FN and fail miserably. As usual.

Robert Zimmerman told the court he’s a disabled veteran who doesn’t have much income.
