Got a group of guys that want to go sling some arrows and wanted some suggestions on places to go. We took a group to west texas a few years ago but was trying to find something closer. What ya got?

There is a place in east Texas that has a big nice operation. I can't remember name at moment but I think Bleeding Purple is the one that posted the name. Maybe he will be here to give some info.

The one and only hog I have killed was with a bow the same afternoon I shot my first deer with a bow

There are two places I would recommend.

My lease where you can bow hunt all the hogs you want for free but you will need to find local lodging. I am in Athens Texas.

and

Big Woods on the Trinity. https://www.bigwoods.net/ They have a great operation but they are sometimes hard to get in touch with.

How big is your place Bleeding Purple? Not sure how many guys we would actually have so would spot and stalk be an option or better to sit in stands? Thanks for your help!

1000 acres. We can usually handle 3-4 guys.

Spot and stalk is an option but not a very good one. The terrain does not really lend itself to that anywhere in East Texas. It is just too thick and you will make too much noise. For hogs, especially as the weather warms up, you will see the most activity just before dark, all night long, and then just after day light. After that thye go lay down in the shade in areas so thick that they would know you were coming from 400 yards out.

bow hunting with a bow triggerd light at night from a stand is a great way to bag a few big ones.
