He will probably catch Mir. At least we may get to see how good/bad Junior's grappling is.

anyone but freaking Mir. Also a bs move from the UFC to pull overeem before his hearing. If he is cleared by the commission he should get the fight. Overeem through recent interviews seems oddly confident he will get his license. Who do they give cain now?

Jr was going to win anyway.

Not really. The fight isn't too far away and if you are going to have to throw Mir in, its only fair to give him at least a few weeks to properly train.

I wouldn't worry about it. It also seems odd that they waited this long to replace Overeem when his hearing is only four days away. It seems to suggest that they have recently found out that Overeem would not be licensed.
The defense offered by Overeem's agent so far is terrible. Because he was not a licensed fighter by the NSAC, they are claiming that there was no jurisdiction for a random test. So basically, Overeem has been taking huge amounts of steroids (which everyone assumed all along) but shouldn't be subject to a random drug screening.

JDS is going to rape Mir. Mir has no chance if he tries to stand with him, which would be stupid but I wouldn't be surprised if it happened.

Plus, after the incident with his last test where his mom just happened to get sick on the day of his drug test, one of the conditions for him to get his liscense was to pass two random drug tests. He has no case.

Not only that, it then took him something like three weeks before he could make his way to a testing lab.

What is terrible about that defense? It makes perfect sense.

they could have waited 4 days for reems hearing. Could be robbing the fans of an excellent fight. Mir is completely outclassed on paper except in Bjj. I don't see how he will get JDS down who has very very good takedown defense. JDS should walk right through him.

yeah, this is going to be a beating. Similar to the Carwin / Mir fight with less clinching.

Nog almost knocked Mir out with a jab in his last fight. Farewell to Mir's head.

I don't think Mir can take Junior down, his take down d is pretty solid.

I have a strong feeling that it is not going to be overturned. Like 99.99%

Maybe Dana thinks the fight lost all of the build up that it should have received, so he pulled the plug on it and is saving it if AO happens to get cleared.

It may make sense from a technical standpoint. Letting him fight now would mean that he was free to take whatever he wanted in preparation for this fight because he wouldn't be licensed until roughly a month before.
Practically, this defense sets a terrible precedent and is terrible for the integrity of the sport.

mir is fricking terrible. how does he hold so much clout with dana white? is he lasts a whole round against JDS i will be shocked
i know dana white got put in a bad decision b/c of overeem, but frank mir?? at least give cain another shot to get his title back

Mir is the only choice Dana had. He is on a three fight win streak and the winner of the Mir/Cain fight was already going to get the next shot. You can't send Cain straight into another fight with JDS before he has gotten at least a win.

Dude, Mir is not terrible. He just broke Big Nogs arm off who was considered the best HW BJJ player in MMA(I know Werdum is considered best now). You can say his standup is not that great or he does not match up well against JDS, but he in not terrible.
