How to access hard drive from old laptop?

Lost the power cord and battery is drained.

Any ideas for accessing the hard drive? I assume removing it is an option, but what then?

TIA.

Grab a SATA cable and plug it in to a desktop motherboard and powersupply

external hard drive enclosures are a good way to take old internal drives and hook them up via USB. Just gotta find one that fits a laptop sized hard drive (which wouldn't be too hard)

They make cheaper external enclosures you can put just about any hard drive in and connect it through USB. Should be able to find this under $20

the correct answer

Also this, but the SATA cable is a better/faster option

If he is looking at a bricked laptop because he doesn't have a power cord, this is going to be like solving a problem in quantum mechanics

You can buy SATA to USB converters. I use one of these and an old laptop HD like a thumb drive.
