It appears that St. Amant High School basketball coach, Gary Duhe, will interview tomorrow for an assistant coach's position with Johnny Jones.

What's the word on this guy? Seems like an odd hire on its face.

Gary was the coach at Redemptorist when I was there in the 80's Pretty good coach if I remember right. I think he was supposed to follow Tom Curry to college but something happened and that fell through.

So is he a recruiter, an X and O's guy? Admin guy?

It had a bout with cancer that he fought and won...I can see him in the same capacity as Coach Baglio in football. Liason between LSU and high school coaches...would be a good move

Very knowledgable of the game, he always worked Dale Brown's camps back in the day (perfect BBQ buddy). He's very well connected in the Louisiana basketball scene and should be very solid from an x and o standpoint.

Isn't he the coach Tigerbait wrote the article on about how the next coach needs to connect with high school coaches, etc? He made some comment about how Saban brought in a high school to serve as his liaison. Sounds like that's what this is.

That would be him.

He could help tap into that St. Amant pipeline.

He's a great coach. He was able to take teams of short white guys deep in the LA playoffs multiple times.

Uhhhhhh......little bit of a difference between the college and high school game.

If he's such a "great" coach, why has he been coaching high school ball for the last 30 years?
