Would you be excited? Tubby as HC and Randy and lead recruiter/asst HC.

I say yes.

I hope we could do better, but it wouldn't be the worst.

Please. Like Livingston would give up the opportunity to be an SEC assistant coach at LSU because he's not the "lead" assistant. Do you realize how big a step-up this would be for Livingston?

What makes Livingston such a great recruiter? Has he ever recruited? Don't understand why rantaeds think no matter the head coach he has to hire RL as his top recruiter.

Valid, but I've slowly come around to the conclusion that others have reached that he has strong roots and connections in nola, came to LSU when he could have literally gone anywhere (nobody spurns the type of schools he did) and he can relate to these players from the nola, high profile recruit, NBA, and LSU player.

He hits all the check marks to recruit effectively for LSU.

He also runs a youth basketball academy in New Orleans and is pretty tapped into the AAU scene there.

Also, not sure you could hire anyone with more credibility and/or respect from high school coaches. Every coach in the state either knows, coached against, or remembers Randy Livingston. That gets you into a lot of doors and gyms.

You have some good points. But everyone wants us to hire the best coach money will buy but wants an unproven recruiter, just doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't we want the best coach available to bring in the best recruiter available?

Disregarding injuries, Livingston committing to LSU basketball at the time was akin to Kevin Faulk committing to the football team.

He would qualify, IMO, as the best possible assistant coach recruiter for our state. easily.

Name me a proven recruiter that would reasonably come to LSU and has substantial connections to LSU, Louisiana, and the AAU scene here? I honestly can't think of one off the top of my head.

Besides, Livingston's lack of previous recruiting experience shouldn't be a detriment. It's not like recruiting is some puzzle that takes an inordinate amount of time to figure out. It's about connections, relating to people, being personable, etc. Livingston checks off all those boxes.

Fair enough, although I think we should be more concerned with pulling out of state talent in basketball. Currently out of state talent is much better than in state talent.

If he has all these connections and runs academys and AAU stuff in NO and loves LSU and wants a job at LSU then why aren't we getting any of "his" kids from NO?

What is his current responsibility to LSU right now? His responsibility is to the kids he coaches. Further, maybe he doesn't have any LSU caliber players right now (I honestly don't know, assuming he probably does though). But his name recognition is unmatched in LA.

Rl is the most respected person in the la aau scene. Want players? Look at the aau tournaments. He is a legend. Fool.

According to the rant I would assume his responsibility as a former LSU athlete would be to help steer athletes to LSU. If he has no LSU caliber athletes in AAU which is very much a program of recruitment why would we want him to recruit for LSU if he can't recruit the top players for his AAU stuff, afterall according to you his name is unmatched in NO and the state of La.

First off, he started it 2 years ago. Second, it's for younger kids who aren't in high school yet so that would be an impossibility.

As for AAU, he's coaching in the D-League so it's not like he's has time to rush around and handle kids' recruitments. But he knows numerous people involved in AAU as well as high school basketball. Also, it's not a secret that Johnson didn't want Livingston involved, so why would Randy feel the need to help Johnson out?

Are you just purposefully trying to be difficult and abrasive?

You cannot possibly be this stupid.
