According to Jacques Doucet

quote:

Source close to situation says Murray St head coach Steve Prohm has spoken to LSU about opening.

Might not be a big name but his style would be exciting...

He's become a much bigger name after this season, I'd love to have him at LSU

So Alleva has interviewed both Steve Prohm & Shaka Smart

I keep saying that Jones is a facade and not the front runner, and the more we keep hearing the more that sounds like it's accurate.

Compared to Brady and TJ ... that's not saying much.

Me too. I think he would build something big at LSU and attract players and fans because of that fast pace style.

He knows Louisiana and would be a good pick up here.

If true (along with Smart), Alleva is really outdoing himself.

I feel like this too...but I also have a feeling we might get a name dropped on us from out of nowhere.

or we'll get Jones.

I honestly feel like Jones is a last resort for Alleva, like he has his list and if they all say no, THEN he'll go hire Jones.

I'm just happy he's interviewing people other than Jones.

His best player Isaiah Canaan is from Biloxi & he has player form all over the South on his team including LA. I would like to see what Prohm or Smart can do with our AB

Prohm would be a great hire IMO. Has a lot of the qualities that I think present upside to our program.

And for anyone asking why he'd leaving Murray for LSU: I give you ~$1.7M reasons

quote:

Murray State says that Prohm's base salary will be increased from $195,000 to $270,000 and his radio and TV contracts push his total compensation to $300,000, not including incentives.

So even if we offer him what Trent made, it'd be a $1M+ raise.

could be alot of truth in that. Think back to the Trent Johnson hire. I don't recall hear much of anything about him being a candidate. He came completely out of left field.

If Jones was the front runner we would already have a head coach.

Exactly, I really like this Prohm idea, if at least a $1M raise can't get him to BR then I'd be pretty disappointed

I just can't see Jones being hired. Forget what he has done at North Texas, I just can't see them hiring him simply because of what he was involved in when he was here as an assistant coach that resulted in him getting fired.
