Didn't realize he was in Bham. I may actually have to catch a few Barons games this year.

is that a promotion from where he ended last season or was he already in AA at the end of the year?

If i wasn't on the road this week, I would have been there. Geaux Jmitch!

Says he made a nice catch leaping against the wall too.

True story: I saw Mitchell score from second base on a sac fly to deep center field at Auburn.

he really needs to cut down on the strike outs. he's not a power hitter, and with his speed, they want him on base. if he doesn't fix the strikeouts he's gonna have a hard time getting to the show. his OBP is pretty good right now, but he's still averaging a strikeout every 3 at bats. i love the guy and hope the best, but he's gotta do better in that aspect of his game.

isn't this more of an issue with hitting the curve vs. trying to hit for power?

The Birmingham Barons are coming to play the Pensacola Blue Wahoos this weekend and next week. I may go see him play if I get really, really, really bored.
Geaux Jared!

yes but my point is, with power hitters, adam dunn for example, people will overlook striking out if you're hitting home runs. if you're a gap hitter like mitchell and a speed guy who's dangerous on the base paths, you can't strike out once every three at bats in A ball if you wanna make it to the majors

I think Jared will improve over the next few years as this is just his second full season with just baseball b/c of the injury he sustained 2 years ago. Yes he does struggle with the curve ball and yes he needs to be more of a lead off type, practice moving runners over and bunting. They are working with him in all these areas, should have a better year this year, good luck to him
