Trout migration

Should be soon. What are you guys noticing right now?

They the big ones have moved out to the bays and will be reaching the islands in the next couple of weeks. I think all of the typical migration patterns will be pushed ahead a few weeks (possibly a month) because of the warmer weather this winter.

I have got some reports this week of them hammering them on the coast (pelican island, Taylor's Bayou area). I know there are still some fish in Mechant and Sister Lake but you have to fight threw the small ones and gaft tops. I am headed out their Friday - Sunday but the wind forecast looks tough. Will report my catch.

I've always thought trout migration was more salinity and moon related than temperature dependent..?? Someone enlighten me

Trout migration follows the shrimp migration which is salinity driven, but warmer waters/ weather typically mean a southerly flow which means higher salinity.

But I have gotten 2 great "island" reports in the last 5 days

Looks like some are reporting a lot of diving birds showing up in the bays out of Delacroix so looks like things are about on time down there.
