| Louisiana Business and Law Exam anyone take it? (Posted on 4/10/12 at 9:07 am)
I have to take the Business and Law exam this month for our company to keep its commercial contractors license and was wondering if anyone on here has taken it and what to expect. Just seems like another way for the state to make money IMO. Our company has been operating since 1948 but due to a death in the family we had a change of ownership and need a new qualifying party.

I think it is for licensing contractors in the state.

Yep anyone with a business that does $50k or more per project has to take it ($75k for residential construction). Your company has to have at least one person working there that has passed the exam along with any trade exams you may need in order to do business in the state of LA. No one here had ever taken this exam due to the age of the company nothing like this was required to get a contractors license and we were grandfathered in. Now that we have had a change of ownership we have to scramble to get this exam passed.

I took it. I passed with an 80. I think you need a 70 for it to count. They give you a book with what you need to know in order to pass. Questions like what is an LLC and stuff like that. They should give you the book when you pay for the exam.
