Going to Lake Verret with my uncle tomorrow morning. He isn't a big bream guy, we are strictly bass fishing. Anyone have any tips on baits/colors? Never been before but he mentioned something about crackerhead canals. Flukes, worms, crankbait (if so, what color?), spinnerbaits?

TIA

Our only bass Saturday came on a watermelon red speed craw. Buddies caught a couple on wacky rigged watermelon red finesse worms.

The water is high and muddy right now. Its going to be tough. Cracker head is always a good choice if it isnt too windy since that lake gets rough as shite in any kind of south breeze.

Like tino said, a buzzbait for the first 30 minutes after daylight is always a good choice. A scum frog or rogue is also a good first thing in the morning bait. As the day goes on i usually start throwing spinner baits, rattle traps, and crankbaits for a while. If all else fails a texas rigged worm/lizard/brush hog on the points is almost always good for a few keepers. Its gonna be tough tomorrow and you'll have to be persistant, but yoi should be able to find a few fish.

I've always had luck with spinners or h&h buzz baits. If all else fails get a bucket of shiners or grass shrimp and jig above any fallen brush.

Be careful in open water if the lake is choppy!
