WEST PALM BEACH — A man and a bunny were walking down the center median of Okeechobee Boulevard Wednesday morning when the bunny began flashing a sign at passing motorists: "Have a safe, hoppy holiday. Buckle up!" Amused drivers smiled and waved at the duo. (One motorist even tried to give the man a $20, thinking he was homeless.) But this was no joke. Both were West Palm Beach police officers out to enforce the state-sponsored "Click it or Ticket" campaign; signalling other officers stationed off Tamarind Avenue when motorists were not wearing their seat belts.
quote:
"Operation Hippity Hop," said it was the department's way of spicing up the educational enforcement campaign. "You never know where we're going to be or what we're going to look like," Bessette said. That certainly rang true for Kendui Paicus, 30, of West Palm Beach. He said he saw the bunny, but didn't think much of it. Paicus was issued a $116 citation for not wearing his seat belt.
No issue here between Church & State? Isn't Easter the Biggest of Christian Holidays? Are you offended?

Yeah, I'm sure that big rabbit wasn't targeting Jews or Muslims or Buddhists who weren't buckled up. Idiot.

How exactly were Christians trapped in this scenario? The cop in the bunny costume didn't tell them to take their seatbelts off did they?

if you saw cops in the median, you'd quickly put your seatbelt on. If you see a bunny, you don't think about your belt. Kinda like a cop car at an intersection, you stop, if it's an ice cream truck, you roll through the stop sign.

So FL's seatbelt and stop sign laws only apply when a law enforcement officer is visable? That I did not know.

Lulz if you think the government is going to abide by laws it creates. As for the theft of the guy's money that's unfortunate. What do you expect from gangs? At least he wasn't shot dead especially if he's black unlike the 20+ black men murdered by cops because the looked suspicious or because they were taking a drug that is banned by hypocrites. Carry on.

I went to church this morning. I also made my kids an Easter Basket. What do Easter Baskets have to do with the Resurrection of Jesus? Nothing. It's fun and they enjoyed it. What does this story have to do with trapping Christians? Nothing. Also, if you don't wear a seat belt, well you're just not that smart in the first place.

Exactly. The Easter Bunny and eggs, etc, have nothing to do with Christianity or the celebration of the Resurrection but they are fun and as long as you aren't putting the fun Easter stuff over the real meaning of the holiday then it's not a problem.

Anyone you can think of. Don't speed, they do. Don't steal, murder, etc. They do. As for the State, look around you. You have freedom of speech til the government doesn't like what you have to say, you have the right to assemble until the government feels threatened, you have the right to have a gun, etc and so forth.
