| Got a new job and will have $500 more each month to invest (Posted on 4/7/12 at 9:17 am)
Where should I invest it? I already invest in my IRA each month and put some aside in my savings account each month. Now I'm going to have over $500 more each month to invest. Where is a safe place to put that long term?

What are you looking for in the investment? Reduce your portfolio's market risk? High risk, high growth?

I'm looking for moderate risk to high, moderate to high growth for the long term.

As far as vehicle advice, I would follow these steps: 1. Maximize your company matches to your 401k (if available) 2. Max out Roth IRA 3. Max out HSA (if qualified) 4. If there is any left over throw the rest at your 401k. If your company doesn't match skip to step 2. Just my 2 cents.

Absolutely do this. If you already have, I would pay down my mortgage early. That's not an investment tip, just telling you what I would do. If you are asking for a specific type of investment, like stocks, bonds, gold, mutual funds, etc. I wish I knew. It takes a lot of time and research - and even luck - to be good at that. Quite frankly, it bores me to death to do that kind of research, especially when your best efforts still do not guarantee a profitable return.
