Are we avoiding throwing over the middle?

Did we throw any passes in the middle of the field at the spring game? I went to the open practice and stayed the entire spring game and didn't see us throw any passes to the middle of the field..

Did I miss some or are we avoiding it because the majority of our receivers are smaller?

Rivers threw two that i remember, one was picked and the other was an absolute strike. But both were intermediate to deep passes; we do seem to avoid the short to intermediate crossing routes.

That's something I mentioned. It will be a problem for LSU as the season goes along if we never test the middle. Our TEs need to step it up...

Eric Reid's Pick 6 and Paul Turner's 30 yarder were the same play.

I would love to see shep used more for short crossing routes. I think with his quickness he could really do some damage there. I've all but given up hope in ever seeing the TE position fully utilized.

Hopefully Mett doesn't put Shep in compromising positions going over the middle like JJ did a couple of times last year where Shep just got nailed.

Mett threw one that the receiver (I think it was Armand Williams?) had to dive for over the middle, and Randall threw a few lasers on slants for completions.

2008 scared the head coach too much.

No more over the middle passes

I would also hope the Tigers can utilize the TE more than the past few years--would it have helped if Clement had been the receiver on the pass that bounced off the hands of Tyler Edwards?

Mett didn't play with Williams.

Mett hit James Wright across the middle but Wright had to dive backwards to make it.

Rivers also badly threw behind Armand Williams and he had to similarly dive backwards to make the catch.

But Rivers did hit Paul Turner with a beautiful strike right in the gut between defenders (Rivers' only "wow!" moment).

But outside of those three passes, it basically was either bombs, slants, or 10 & out.

Randall threw 2 slants to a white WR. Can't remember his name.

This s what Miles meant when he said the scrimmage was going to be vanilla..... He didn't want to show all our over the middle pass plays.
