It's staggering how many people think "Hey Fightin' Tigers" is our fight song

I live in Houston, and there's alot of LSU "fans" around here. I've had conversations with many of them, but I always like to gauge their "fandom" (discretely of course) by seeing exactly how much they know and what not.

last night I had a conversation with a group of 4 or 5 LSU fans who all tried to tell me that "Hey Fightin' Tigers" is the official fight song of LSU. They couldn't even remember what "Fight For LSU" sounded like.

ETA: I know, csb

The misconception is entirely understandable, in my opinion. "Hey Fightin' Tigers" is featured much more prominently in typical gameday activities than "Fight For LSU." I have sung "Hey Fightin Tigers" thousands of times, whereas I may have actually voiced the lyrics of "Fight for LSU" ten or fifteen times. I believe the Tiger Band only plays "Fight for LSU" on successful field goals and extra points.

And the full thing when the team runs out after they dress out. If you see us at a pep rally or something, we play Coda Fight right before we bail.

So do I...

But why even engage in a football conversation with someone who doesn't even know something as basic as this? You'll only be disappointed.

it's a test...and you failed. JMO

Thanks. Doesn't the band actually sing the lyrics to Hey Fightin' Tigers at some point during games? I seem to have a dim recollection of parts of the band singing the words to Hey Fightin' Tigers?

Y'all still don't get it...

it proves that they don't know jack shite about the university. So I seriously doubt they know much about its football team.
