Wow, that's huge.

Blakers get Steve Blake and LAL 2012 1st
Lakers get Michael Beasley
TWolves get Jamal Crawford
Weird, weird trade. Beasley and World Peace on the same team should provide for some interesting moments.

who reported this? i just heard broussard go with dwight NOT signing the waiver (reported by Wojo last night)

Dwight hasn't done anything yet....just can't trust his word until it happens. But how funny will it be if he does opt-in with the Magic?
Orlando is the last team everyone was saying he'd end up with. It was a forgone conclusion he would be with the Lakers, Nets, Knicks, etc. There will be a bunch of sour haters if he does opt-in later this morning.

Interview with a Real GM reporter late last night

RealGM has reported this.
ESPN is still scrolling the opposite on the bottom line.
eta--and Chris Broussard fricking sucks

quote:
Howard confirmed to RealGM on Wednesday evening that he will waive his early termination option and stay in Orlando for at least the 12-13 season.
Howard also realizes the impact that his indecision has caused and wants to make things right in the city that has watched him grow both professionally and personally since he came into the NBA in 2004 as the first overall pick.
"Man, listen, you know my heart, my soul and everything I have is in Orlando," Howard told RealGM. "I just can't leave it behind."
quote:
Howard said that he plans on signing the ETO waiver first thing on Thursday morning. He also plans on making some internal changes to ensure this situation isn't repeated in the future.

Im officially tired of Dwight Howard
Posted on 3/15/12 at 7:45 am to MrPappagiorgio
i don't think dwight is built for this type of situation. i think the team forcing his hand has affected him
Posted on 3/15/12 at 7:51 am to SlowFlowPro
Affected him in what way?
And how big of a "frick You" is it to ESPN and everyone else if he does stay in Orlando. He would be bucking the system big time if this really happens....

This. Just trade him and get it over with

Not until this summer or next season. We get to go thru this all over again

has pushed him into making a rushed decision i don't think he was ready to make
i think he wanted to wait until the offseason, size up his options, and make a decision (likely not re-signing)
orlando, with good reason, wanted more assurance, and i just don't think he was prepared to do that during the season

i don't think it's a frick you at all

meh...i think it's just been blown out of proportion..Dwight is one of the high character guys in the NBA....He's been getting advice thrown at him from every angle, glad to see he ultimately did what he wanted to do.

Anyone hear about how Dwight will cost himself $24 million by not opting out? Something to do with the new CBA
I didn't catch the whole thing, but something about going with an extension will only allow him to sign a 4 year deal, but if he really wanted to stay with the Magic, he would have to opt out now and then sign a completely new contract. That contract could be a 5 year deal, with the 5th year being over $24m.
So Dwight has fricked himself by flip flopping do much. The Magic can't trust Dwigh's word, so Dwight has to sign the waiver or they will tade him

most of these allegations that players lose money are really that the player will lose a year or 2
in 4 years i'm sure dwight howard will get a huge contract unless he's retired

Agree on part 1, disagree on part 2.
I do think he wanted to experience being a free agent for an offseason, but he will have that chance next year.
And it's definitely a big frick you. A frick you to big markets, Boston, L.A., Miami, espn, corporate America, Chris Broussard, Stephen A. Smith, and the 1%ers
I almost feel bad for the Nets. They're about to get screwed big time....

yeah i think he just wanted to leave quietly and make his own decision, and orlando was like "frick"

eh...he wasn't going to boston/miami and didn't want to go to LA, supposedly. NJ was the only big option
i think dallas was the most likely destination (with deron). mark cuban has to be PISSED
