own a house, have a mortgage; no 2nd mortgage; lot of equity in a house. want to get a loan for $15k--$20k or perhaps simply the ability to access up to $15k--20k--should be able to fully pay it back by the end of the year. suggestions as to what type of loan to seek/best way to do this; suggested interest rate to seek; any recommendations? thanks in advance

home equity loan or line of credit, you should be able to get 4%

Pentagon Federal Credit Union has good rates, it only costs about $15 to join

Just curious, where have you seen a 4% HELOC. Most everything i've seen has a 1.5-2 point floor attached. That's crazy low!

Don't do it! You are going to have that HELOC forever......like luggage.

Disagree. I've had two HELOC's, both now gone, 30k in loans made me an extra 75k when I sold, a 45k profit

what do you need the loan for??

Wow. Thanks! Not having that floor for homeowner who lives in the homes is awesome

Check into Iberia bank as well. I think they may even go above that 80% home equity line threshold.

Iberia is running a variable with 1.99% introductory rate and then prime + .25%
