So what about pay for performance on offense.

So a players job on defense is to make tackles and prevent scores. On offense you are trying to put up points. So if the offense had a system in place that gave payouts to a runningback for trucking a defender or taking a guy off his feet with a crackback block would you ever hear anything about it. The players had friendly wagers on whom could outperform one another on the field. A little extra incentive to push a little harder. This shite wasn't really even about the money, it was about walking around the lockerroom with your head held high and chest sticking out knowing that your peers noticed your accomplishments on the field. It's about a sense of pride, not about them all going out there and being robots. They shouldn't go out there and bust there butts together and not build a sense of comradery. These guys build relationships and compete against each other every day and this is a very small way of them pushing each other a little more. If Goodell wants everything to be calculated and have a bunch of clones walking around the field the entertainment value of this sport will go to shite.

So the comraderie should be built upon being rewarding for injuring another player, whether a clean hit or not? Because this ain't about clean hits I assure you.
