He's just as clueless. I actually feel sympathy for the guy. He's in way over his head.

Hudson Hallman never had a winning season. I think the better comparison would be to Archer. Took over a talented team and had a really good first season, then his recruiting philosophy alienated a lot of people and the team went down hill

Agreed and just like Hallman, time for Alleva to man up like Dean did and realize that he made the wrong choice and time for a change. The amount that Trent is making , I definitely believe that there are a lot out there that can do better. Doesnt have to be a big name hire just someone that is good x and O coach and is a promoter and can get this basketball program back on track.

Wrong. Hallman had some talent. Actually had some good talent.

Basketball is all about talent these days. Coaching is only about 10% of the equation. To compete in NCAA Basketball you need to be North Carolina, Duke, or have a couple of legit "one-and-done" stars a la Kentucky and Calipari. With a couple of exceptions, LSU has not had any legit basketball talent in 15 years.

I don't believe you. You can and you will disagree more with a statement.

If by "recruiting philosophy" you mean "I'm gonna recruit the shite out of a 10-mile radius of Houston, and frick all this talent we have right here in Louisiana" then I agree with this.

There's a reason he's never been a HC on any level again since leaving here. His name never even comes up for openings.

yes, his view was there was more talent in Houston than La and after finishing #5, we could recruit nationally. This pissed off and alienated a lot of people around the state.

That's always shocked me. He was so young when he as at LSU. I don't think he was even 40 when he was fired (maybe right at 40). He must have never shown any interest in being a HC, I'm sure if he really wanted a HC job, he could have gotten one at a lMAC or Sun Belt team at least.

How old are you?

You obviously weren't around for the curley years.
curley was a miserable human being who treated his players like trash. Literally one minute he would be quoting the Bible and the next he would dog curse the team. Curley is fricking trash. TJ is a decent guy, its just not working here for whatever reason.

Thats what the younger crowd doesn't know about Archer. He had it in his mind that he couldn't compete with the Miami's of world with Louisiana talent. So went all in recruiting Houston and he signed some big time guys but most never panned out. That was the beginning of the end for Archer.

Hallman was hired as a means to maintain the program in a profitable state. The program didn't want to go pay for the best candidate at the time and got bargain Hallman. So, one could say that since basketball doesn't get the attention it should at LSU, that they did the same thing with Johnson....as long as the sport isn't losing money, they are ok with the results until some big money alums start complaining.
