Way to raise money for University.

I've been thinking about this, and would like to hear some feedback. I know this is hardly a novel idea, but I don't hear much about it and what better place than the rant to post an idea and couple hours later to find out what people say.
Back in the day, Huey Long expanded Tiger Stadium by building dorms in the stadium.
These days, there are constant debates about funding for LSU. What if the State government put up the money to expand tiger stadium and condition this funding on all profits going to fund the school (none to athletics, all to academics). You could even compromise and permit that all concession proceeds go to the athletic departments. Also, the motive should be revenue, that way legislators won't try to give them out like food stamps, or lower the prices for those that have low income.
Most LSU fans, including myself, will never cut a check to the University for academics, but many are willing to pay for football tickets. This could help supplement some of the funding to the University, while also helping athletics. Also, it could speed up the process in expanding the stadium. (I am aware of the exciting news that recently came out about expanding, but my post is a hypo).
Also, the stadium is empty most of the year, as well as the PMAC. Why doesn't LSU use these venues for concerts, music festivals, etc. to raise revenue. Like Bayou Country Superfest or whatever. I would be curious to see how much revenue was generated.
Thoughts?

Back in the day, all the major acts played the PMAC. Now they don't come to BR any more at all. There have been a number of threads on the OT about why this is so. Bayou Country Superfest is a good idea, but you can only do a limited number of those.

Or like Bayou Superfest? Which I'm pretty sure has been rejected by BR for the future.

Oh, I thought it was called Swampfest. Will edit.
Not a big country fan, or at least not that kind of country.

I'm more curious about the state paying for stadium expansions.

Whatever happened to the Tiger Beer idea?
Also, I think if they cleared a lot of the red tape over our FOREVER funds, we wouldn't be in the hole as much as we are. I'm not particulary fond of making athletics contribute more but its' definitely a legit money raiser.

why? Aren't you an alum? Didn't you benefit from an LSU education?

Saw something in the Advocate last year after Superfest saying that the City Council didn't think it was worth it?
I could be totally wrong on this. I hope so, I feel like it brings a lot of tourism and money to BR for the weekend. I remember after the first one they interviewed like 1000 people outside and somewhere around 70% had never been to BR before, and of that 40% or so said they would have never come if it werent for Superfest.
Again I hope I'm totally wrong.

I paid tuition for that, and LSU's fundraising is kind of a joke (even many of the fundraisers will admit that). I have more worthy causes to donate my money towards. If I didn't have to make the donation for the season tickets I wouldn't have done that either.

I haven't cut a check yet, but then again I'm a couple years out of college and struggling. Rest assured when I have money available for donation it will be going to LSU before anywhere else.
For the time being I'm going to continue to give them money, but in exchange for my money I will get tickets to games

Well it's definitely happening this year. Didnt know if they were canceling it after this year or what.

Considering he said this:

...I doubt that he is.
Full disclosure:
<------- Also not an LSU alum.
Go Devils!

My whole point is finding a way to raise money for the University. How much did LSU gain financially (forget intangibles here)?
Also, the reason I suggested the state is that it could help with some of the funding issues that LSU faces every damn year. If it doesn't work that well, TAF could purchase the addition from the University to try and salvage some of the money lost.
