My xbox keeps turning off randomly after an extended period of playing and a red light come on the power cord...

I unplug the cord from the wall and wait for the light to go away and it turns back on.

Does anyone here know how to fix this?

Sounds like a power cord problem, not a console problem, so thats good. I would suggest purchasing a new power cord.

Sounds like your power brick is goin out. You might try and use a different one if you have one (or borrow a friends) and see if the problem continues...

It could also mean it's overheating. Do you have the new model (slim) it turns itself off to cool down if it gets too hot after being on for an extended period of time. Could be a power issue though. Use a friends power brick to see if that works. If not then it's probly just getting too hot.
