Best sniper rifle in BF3?

I'm diggin the L96 but haven't unlocked all of them yet. What's the best one?

l96 is good but supposedly, M98B is the best. I say supposedly because i havent unlocked it

I use the p90 or USAS with the recon so I don't know. The few kill I have gotten have been with the default gun.

That's the one I get killed by the most too, I guess it's probably the best.

I use the M98B. its a beast at closer range, its a 1 shot kill in the chest

One of my few gripes with BF3 is the sniper rifle damage. I feel like a headshot is the only way to get a one shot kill with the sniper rifle.
I'm pretty sure if you get hit in the chest/neck with a .50 cal round your arse is dead.
It's been rare, but I've shot someone and appeared to hit them in the head, they kill me (cause I suck at sniper duels) and I see they have like 2% health left. Like what the frick?

If you're talking about putting a rifle scope on the 870 MCS and using slugs, then I would have to disagree. I tried that and I like the bolt action rifles a lot better.

a headshot is the only way to get 1 shot kills if they are 100%.
supposedly, Bolt action Sniper rifles are having their damage increased in an upcoming patch.
just throw a straight pull bolt on your bolt action SR or use an automatic SR... not too hard to get a clean followup shot

M98B shoots the .338 round, not the .50 cal
The M98B is best for medium and long range sniping, 95 Damage, 1 shot headshot kill
The L96, M40, and SV98 are all comparable with each other, with 75 damage and 1 shot headshot kills. Any of these with a straight pull bolt are usually better options for close to intermediate range sniping because of the faster bolt pull and larger magazines. The L96 gets a slight edge for having a higher muzzle velocity than the others, so it has less bullet drop than the M40 and SV98.
ETA
The semi-autos, Mk11, SVD, M39, SKS, and QBU, all require at least two headshots for a kill unless its close range, within 25 meters or so. Put a Holographic sight on them and use them as battle rifles, otherwise they are worthless

I love the L96 as well. I got a headshot today on a guy parachuting. 
I've tried to do that for a long time, very gratifying kill. And I know the guy lazily floating through the air was probably scared shitless.

If I remember correctly, the M98B is having its damage nerfed to the same as the other bolt action sniper rifles. It will still have the fastest bullet velocity though. The patch is suppose to add another hit box in the heart area for the bolt action rifles along with many other changes.

my favorite was a snipe on Canals, under the loading crane all the way to the carrier... in one attempt. 320 meters. damn near shite myself with excitement when that marksman bonus popped.
havent gotten the parachute headshot or helicopter pilot headshot yet... those will be fun.
