Question about boat trailer...

I bought a sailboat (14'), trailer was free. I want to register trailer in Lousiana, but don't have papers for it (that's why it was free). I was told I could register it as "home built". Anyone have experience with this? Thanks.

If it doesn't look hom made, you are not going to get it reg here in Louisiana. Also, if you have a home make, the state cops have to come to your house to stamp numbers on it and you have to have away to prove that you built it like were you got the metal, axles and tires to build it.

In Louisiana you need title to reg.
