Its been ultra aggressive since Mainieri got here, regardless of who is coaching 3rd. Thats his philosophy, whether you agree with it or not.

Also think the perceived lack o hitting is due to the huge bat reduction, and fans havent gotten used to it yet.

The base running has to get better and that comes down to coaching. Hitting is hitting for the most part - either a kid can hit or he can't. The coaching can only do so much as far as the hitting goes. The coaching can dictate each players and the teams approach to hitting and I hope to see some improvement in that regard this year.

If I get time later tonight, maybe i'll try to find our hitting rankings in relation to other teams over the last 5 years. I have a feeling alot of the hate for Javi is because he aggressively coaches 3rd base, like i'm sure he was instructed to do.

you know how that works. If he sends a guy and he gets out, javi is an idiot. If he holds the guy up and we lose by 1, javi is an idiot. It's that way with any 3rd base coach.

I think what you all do not realize is that the bats are killing us turning hits into runs. We are unable to manufacture runs the way we need to. We cannot bunt people in, we cannot sac fly, we cannot get a timely hit. It doesnt matter that you have the 3rd highest batting average in the SEC when you have one of the highest runner left on base average. Two hits and three strikeouts still equals 0 runs. You all refuse to accept this. The teams that are winning now are recruiting guys that can manufacture runs not knock the shite out of the ball. Case in point South Carolina and Florida. When they get on base they score regardless of the way they have to do it. To have a pitcher with a sub 2 ERA that has a losing record is plain pathetic. If you think that small ball would not have won twice as many games last year you are nuts. It is not small ball that failed it is our hitters that failed at bunting. College baseball players should know how to bunt.

I know its alot easier to remember a guy getting thrown out at the plate than it is to remember a guy beating a close play at the plate or the fielder making an errant throw to the plate

Sanchez doesn't deserve to learn how to be a coach at LSU like he has from the onset. LSU doesnt deserve that. The guy has been an absolute clown. He is PM's buddy, basically what it boils down to. Under-qualified from the get go.

as far as last years numbers, they were heavily skewed by one player: Mahtook. From beginning of the season until the end, he and Ryhmes were the only consistent bats year long.

I feel like half of our hitters got worse(Hanover, Nola, Edward, Watkins), and im not sure it was because of the bats. Others hit with them.

what website are you using for that? I knew we were in that 30-50 range last season, but i'd like to see what it was in 2010, 2009, 2008

This.

I'd be interested in seeing what our two-out BA w/ RISP was last year. The timely hitting just wasn't there.

Man that is about as false of a statement as i've seen on here. The guy has put all the blame on himself. He even admitted to loafing and said in essence it would never happen again.

I agree. After the season last year he did just that. Then a few weeks ago he admitted to "overreacting to the new bats". He has admitted mistakes, which is something rare from a head coach.

He did an awful job as the 3rd base coach last year. Just awful.
