I'm looking to get a used Jeep to drive back and forth to work, and take to the deer lease. Anyone know of any older models for sale that would be a good value?

Been looking myself. Craigslist and local area search for used Jeeps have brought up good looking Jeeps for me. I just can't decide what I want to do just yet
2 door? 4 door? straight 6 or new lower miles Jeep? Too many choices.

Not sure abput everything, just know what i can see.

Straight 6 i think
Automatic
About 5" of lift
Coils in the front
Full tube roll cage
Winch
I guess 35's maybe 37's
Not sure about drivetrain mods. All done by sam's offroad. It was built to be a full blown rock crawler.

I dont have many positive things to say about the Jeep brand, but I'll give it a shot. The straight inline 6 is a hell of a motor that will most likely outlast the numerous other problems you will encounter (I have the V8). If money wasnt an issue, and I was buying a Wrangler, It would be a Rubicon 100%. Locked front and rear with twin Dana 44 (aluminum I believe) axles. As for 4 or 2 door, I like the look of the 2 door better, but would love to have the longer wheelbase of the 4 door or unlimited. You will find a lot more 4x4 Jeeps as you get out of the south because of the different terrain. Try sites like jeepforum.com and jeepsunlimited.com and search the classifieds. Hopefully I can build my own one day and do some wheeling out west, but for now I'll just have to drool over ones I see on the Internet.

If you are looking for a daily driver/camp jeep, I will assume by good value you mean <$10,000. You will have to go to the early 2000's in which case 4drs was not and option and the inline 6 is the only option outside of the 4 banger.

I would look for a 2000-2003 with minimal mods. You should be able to find that just driving around baton rouge looking at dealerships.

Man, I had a kick arse CJ 7 when in the 80's. This looks very close to the one I had. 304 V8 engine.

Do you want a Jeep or a Jeep CJ or Wrangler?

Its hard to be the value of a Jeep Cherokee XJ, if you are not dead set on on the CJ Wrangler styling.

that chicken and fish place any good? always packed... take the little woman to mcdonalds drive thru, buy some $1 double cheeseburgers, go to the Kubota Tractor dealer and sit in the biggest one with a cab and eat your burgers...Romantic, and she will love it..
