I know that all programs have special academic "allowances" that are different for athletes than normal students. My question is that do the SEC schools give more "allowances" than other conferences? How about specific schools? Has there ever been a study on what is actually required of student athletes compared to regular students for the top FBS schools?

Every school can handle this how they'd like. There is no "standard" exception # for the conference itself. The conference indicates minimum qualification requirements, and each school can treat students above that line how they'd like. I am willing to guess that Vanderbilt is willing to admit a lot fewer "marginal" students than LSU or Auburn would.

Allowances being relaxed entrance requirements, special classes for athletes only and lower grade sustainment requirements.

The general feeling is that Vandy would make fewer exceptions, but has anyone ever actually collected the information?
