when we had Collison and Thorton if we had traded Paul at the time and picked up decent big man in the trade, we would MUCH better today

ya, i was thinkin that would have been the best way to go at the time. I really thought the writing was on the wall with the CP3 thing the whole time. A lot of people didn't want to see it that way, including the organization--can't really blame them. He is one of the best point guards of all time

those two brought something new, they brought excitement when cp3 was hurt. Hopefully we can have another draft like that

Trading CP3 would've been a terrible idea at the time. Hindsight is 20/20. He had not indicated at all that he would not want to stay here and he was the best player at his position.

Didn't we have to meet an attendance number ? My memory is confused on this one. I can't remember what happened last year.

Well the wedding speech he gave at Carmelo's wedding was pretty telling that he probably didn't want to be here long term. Didn't he also issue a trade request during the offseason last year as well ?

Yes it is. I can't find the article but I think it was Bill Simmons who wrote after the 2010 season that the Hornets should trade CP3 for Blake Griffin. Saying there is no way that the Clippers would turn it down and that the Hornets would essentially get a number 1 pick for CP3. Both were coming off knee injuries at the time.

Yeah I just thought monty and dell didn't have enough skins on the wall to come in and trade off two rookies like that, play the season out and see how it goes. That's basically what they did with Chris Paul.

And I'm sorry those two don't get paid to hope, you have to have foresight and prepare for the worse (by keeping Thornton and collison) and good for the best ( Paul signing an extension), you don't go all in on Chris Paul.

Imagine if everything plays out the same way with Paul, but we keep collison and Thornton. Collison, Gordon, Thornton, aminu, kaman still to trade, maybe for the knicks first, and the two first we now have, along with ayon and jack, ariza and landry to possibly move to contenders.

Monty, dell and Hugh weber might be out after this year and all they would have accomplished was to trade two young guys who were some part our future and that they had no business trading for some hope and a prayer chance that they could convince Paul to stay.
