HOL-E-shite. What a fantastic, disturbing movie.

Probably the best psychological horror movie I've seen in a long time. Think in terms of Cape Fear, The Hand That Rocks The Cradle, The Good Son. Movies that are centered around soulless, creepy as frick psychopaths. Except this one is done with an amazing artistic style. Not really all that violent, but the editing and montages do a really good job of building up tension from minimal violence or physical trauma (although there is a little bit of that).

Highly recommended when it comes out. But more than likely it will be a limited release. ::coughYouCanTorrentItNowThoughcough::

Yeah. I agree.

It was interesting being told on two different levels at two different times.

I really, really, REALLY hated the book. I don't know if I can overcome that. Unfair, I know.

I'm thinking Lynn Ramsay took a lot of artistic liberty in adapting the book to film. It's got too much of a visual style and fluid editing to be an exact mold of the novel. Maybe I'm wrong though. Never read the book. I see that the book is a series of letters. That part is definitely changed in the movie.

Also, it will be hard to hear Last Christmas by Wham! without thinking of this movie from now on

The book is essentially two hundred pages of the mom complaining that people aren't nice to her in the grocery store.

There's 2 or 3 instances like that, but I mean, if anyone can pull it off, it's Tilda, right?

Did you happen to read it because it's an Orange Prize winner? Usually their selections are solid. I've never read one that didn't impress me, but I think I can see how Kevin could be a little too mopey. Ramsay trims everything down to the economy of a film. While it definitely is 120 miuntes of discomfort, for me, it was so stylish and well done I didn't see that as a fault.

Bump. Picked this up at Refbox today.

Wow. Holy shite is right. Powerful, intense, and utterly disturbing. The performances were so strong I could feel the manipulation in my living room. I don't think I have ever seen a movie that maintained such an overwhelming sense of evil from start to finish. I loved the way it was edited and how it all came together. Bravo to the young Kevin and of course, Tilda.

TMI but I gave myself a vasectomy 80 minutes in.

Went rent this after reading this thread. Great flick but creepy. I think they depicted a sociopath pretty well.

Creepiest scene was definitely when they gave the younger Kevin a bow and arrow and he shot the window at the house by his mother.

The song they had playing during that scene and the final one was perfect and set the mood.

It's a solid 8.5/10
