Does anyone know where I can get a copy of the chinese bandits wearing the masks?
I looked at LIFE but it shows not available when you click on it to purchase.

Yep, that's as good as it gets on the computer. I'm sure there are some paintings around, but they're bound to be pricey.

I guess I can always google but I would rather hear it from the fans, but what exactly is the deal and the history with Chinese Bandits?

Because of substitution rules at the time, Paul Dietzel devised a system of 3 platoons - the White Team, Gold Team (later shortened to "Go") and Chinese Bandits. I'm not even sure what the original name for the Bandits were, but it was reference to a comic book or comic strip.
The White team normally started and ended every quarter (if you were in the game at the beginning of the quarter, you could sub in and out without restriction, otherwise, it was like a major league pitcher - once you're pulled, you're out until the next quarter), and were the best 11 (Cannon was on the White team), the "Go" team were short yardage, typically offensive, specialists who came in to spell the White team at the end of a long drive, and the Bandits were defensive specialists regarded, generally, as "third teamers".
But they had a unit cohesion and success in their role that made them beloved with the fans (and their coach was Charles McClendon). Somebody wrote a song about the Chinese Bandits - only Cannon of the White team can say the same.

Awesome. Thanks for taking the time with that Ace.

The Chinese Bandits became such a tough Defense to reckon with that they became famous. My brother-in-law was a member. He started and played the almost the entire game of every game. They were awesome on defense and many of them went on to play for the Pros. They helped LSU win the National Championship in 1958.
