Need feedback on Surface drive motors

I will be purchasing a surface drive motor in the very near future. Other than running an LT mudbuddy years ago, I have very little experience in the surface drive area (mud motors are illegal where I used to hunt). I have recently gotten into a marsh lease and will need to purchase a new rig. Any advice? I'm just trying to do a little due dilligence here and get some feedback (brand of motor, horsepower, performance issues, etc.). TIA

This will turn into a pissing match buuuuuut...
Pro drives are te best work horses. If you are going to be going through mud flats and slop and need to reverse through slop then get a pro drive.
If you have a long drive then get a mud buddy. The top end on them can't be beat. If you have time and money, wait a few months, the mud buddy with the instant reverse is supposedly coming out.
A lot of ppl will knight for gtr tail but I have never used one. They seem to be in the shops a lot though.

Get a GTR. Better performance in soft mud bc they can dig deeper than the PD.
PD full power reverse is sweet, but I rather the instant reverse of the GTR.

You haven't been in a pro drive if you think the gtr tail does better in soft mud. I wish I had pictures but I have been on a flat with the closest water 50 yards from us and it only gained speed.

Well I've been to some mudruns in both LA and Texas and in the soft soupy mud, the GTRs dominate.
Now I have seen some PDs pull some stuck GD out in reverse which is sweet. I like both engines. Just a fan of the instant reverse.
Best advice is to take a day off and go test drive both.
