Ides of March

Just got it on RedBox last night. I figured since it had an amazing cast but not so much fanfare that it must've been sort of a bust, but I thought it was an excellent movie. I would've liked it to be a bit longer and more developed, but overall I thought it was excellent. Great actors. Gosling has been on a role.

Completely agree. I'm not sure how most perceive but I thought it was really damn good. Actually watched it twice before I sent it back to redbox and I never do that.

The cliffhanger ending really pissed me off.

I saw it with a couple of friends and I liked it more than they did, but I thought it was pretty good. Better than most.

I was a little disappointed. I thought the movie was OK and worth a red box rental for sure. But, considering the cast I was expecting more.
As I said in the Drive thread, expectations play a big part in how I perceive a movie I guess. I didn't expect much from Drive and was surprised, I expected a lot from Ides of March and was let down. Ides may very well be the better of the two, but after watching it, "meh" was my impression.
I agree that Gosling was good and he is definitely on a hot streak right now.

This. I enjoyed it, but it left something to be desired.

I guess it wasnt a cliffhanger.
It led you to assume whatever you assumed happened in the interview.
Pissed me off because I wanted to see it go down.

One of the better films from last year imho.

I liked it, but I hated how sanctimonious George Clooney seemed as he preached his politics

That was my bugaboo too, but frankly if he was trying to grandstand that was the worst possible film to do it in.
SPOILERS
He basically plays the role of the villain. He's the prototypical politician who will, at the end of the day, say or do anything to get elected. I'm actually surprised Clooney didn't make the film abut a Republican primary debate considering how shitty of a person his characters proves to be.
