Well, can't deny the last month has probably been the worst month in my recent memory for recruiting...

The year we lost Hunter/Davis who both turned out to be stud WRs was pretty bad too. But we made that up with at least some talented guys. Or at least guys we thought were talented then. Although none of those WRs have done anything at LSU to this point.

If we get another mediocre class this coming season...I think it is fair to start worrying.

I get that feeling when reading this board. What really frustrates me even more is why it is happening after going 13-1 and winning a National championship.

I just don't understand it.

It's hard to believe how bad recruiting has been this year and looks to be going forward.

You would think a top five college football program coming off an SEC Championship and BCSNCG appearance could recruit better than we have.

It's dissapointing to see us miss out on all the big name guys that were once considering us, seeing guys decomitt, and seeing in state guys (4 of the top 6) go elsewhere.

Don't let the sunshine pumpers fool you, this is a bad time for LSU.

One person.... Les Miles. The way the team looked on the 9th makes you think he doesn't know what he was doing. I know that some things happened leading up to the game but he could have done better in damage control. In return this is affecting recruiting. He isn't addressing the problems that happened during the game. If you were a recruit and watched that game can you honestly say that you would want to spend your next 4 yrs with a coach that can't make any adjustments. LSU may win the NC next year but we should have won this year also. It is inevidable that this will hurt recruiting for some time. To think any other way is just plain stupid.

The most likely explantion to me is, in part, the horrible showing in the NCG. We showed little emotion and got very poor coaching. The team seemed to be a daze for the biggest game we played in years. We stunk the first half against Georgia too. Miles' refusal to play Lee more near the end of the season or at all in the NCG is making every decent wide receiver prospect look elsewhere so they can do more than be on the field. Maybe the QB who decommitted too.

The QB play has not been very good over the last several years but not playing Lee in the last game when Jefferson was pretty much totally ineffectual told me he did not come to win the game.

If Miles runs next year's offense like the one for the last few years our recruiting will nosedive. We have a poor track record now for having a balanced offense.

We have one year to turn this around. And I hope Miles hires an OC whom he will let run the offense.

going 13-0 and winning an SEC title isn't easy. Don't let anyone ever fool you because it's not. I just can't believe that people would think Miles and staff forgot how to coach after Jan 9th.

I just don't understand the lack of recruiting POP this season. I mean we had such an awesome season, Tiger stadium was rocking and it was as if coach Miles could do no wrong.

If you asked any Tiger fan what they thought of the LSU program at 5:00 PM on Jan 9th they'd all tell you the same thing. How can one game change that? How in the HELL can one game make us go back to the negativity of post 2009.

I understand losing like that SUCKS and all of that but I mean DAMN, it's like the program has been in black clouds since and I don't know why.

The fan reaction is. Recruiting itself is fairly normal if you can get past the bullshite made up by those who try to perpetuate their own prowess.

You said it. It was the way we lost and part of the pall in the air is that Les Miles really has not addressed it.

Where is the leadership?

Also this class that "played for championships", the 2008 class, was not Top 10 according to rivals.

Alabama has had the #1 class accord to rivals 3 of the past 4 years. We've stayed toe for toe with them to the past 4 years.

What people forget is that Landon Collins committed to Bama before the NCG, and it had 0% to do with his decision.

What people also forget is he was the only 5 star in our state, and the rest will eventually be studs, but are not ranked as high.

Players are taking notice of other wasted talents in past year's classes. Other coaches are throwing this in their faces, IMO. They are telling the skilled players, "Why go to LSU to not be used for 4 years, when you can get the ball here your first year?"

To be honest, I would have a hard time trying to talk my kid out of going elsewhere at this time. 1-9-12 was a very bad day for LSU football.

Haha. Our fans sure know how to overreact. We had one of the top receivers in the SEC and 5 RB get significant carries including 2 freshmen this season. Sure we looked like shite offensively in the NC, but to say this is a recruiting train wreck is extremely shortsighted.
We'll pull in multiple skill players that will be rated better than the receiver who committed to Bama (who doesn't have a great track record of playing freshman skill players like you claimed was our recruiting Achilles heel)

The reason for all of this is Les Miles fault. Hell, LA kids don't even have faith in him anymore. The BCS really put things into perspective for people. This staff messed up bad, and there's stuff going on behind closed doors that we don't know about. Some serious changes need to be made. If that means Les Miles, then so be it.

You didn't win a national championship. You did win an SEC championship which to me is usually just as immpressive if not more so.
