restaurant should be open early next month. haven't seen anything printed about it yet.

Jerry Roppolo, who owns Rue and its building, was poised earlier this year to get a liquor license for Ignatius Eatery up the street, but then withdrew after he was unable to reach an agreement with his landlord there. Based on a subsequent plan he presented this month to move Ignatius into Rue’s building, the City Planning Commission voted Tuesday to recommend Roppolo receive a conditional-use permit to sell alcohol in the building he owns, but Roppolo said any changes to either location are still a long way off.
“I believe our building would be a lot more valuable as a restaurant, and by getting a conditional use I have the opportunity to open a restaurant there,” Roppolo said. “Does that mean it’s going to happen? No. I’m just investigating and looking.”
His actual lease for Ignatius has more than five years remaining on it, he said, so he is in no hurry to make any change. He also could conceivably swap the two locations, putting Ignatius in his building with alcohol sales and the coffeehouse in the building he is leasing, he said, or purchase another building so that he owns the location of both, but it all depends on the costs associated with the process and the difficulty of getting city approval.

Was Rue not doing good business? Or did they move?

They were doing great business. Were always busy and had a large and loyal group of regular patrons - whom are quite angry. Word is he might just swap the locations out. I think he just wants to make more money and feels that having a coffee shop in that location isn't as profitable as having a restaurant. And I'm sure he's right; it's a very choice spot.

ah, wasn't Rue across the street a while back too?

There was a sign out front of Rue saying "Reopening Feb. 1".

Y.A., they forgot to add "... as something else."

Pre Katrina. They had a few other locations then, including downtown and on Magazine and RACE Street, which was their original location, hence "Rue De La Course."

Are you shitting me? I thought they were re-opening on February 1st? I loved Rue de la Course and that location is right by my house. Son of a bitch. Looks like I'll be going to Still Perkin' now (which I am fine with, I just liked the setup at Rue).

Love Rue de la Course, and I like Jerry okay.
I'm just not a huge fan of Ignatius.
Therefore, I'm not real happy with this development either.

I love it as well. Fantastic cup of coffee. That space on Magazine was perfect.

Y.A. Tittle provides sound opinions once again.
RDLC was good.
Ignatius is bordering on terrible.

I liked that Rue as well. Good coffee but always bastards to people that didn't have cash and weren't aware of the rules.

I prefer the Rue location on Carrolton and Oak, but the cash only rule is so obnoxious

I like that location too but it's a little tougher to get a close parking spot that you don't have to pay for at that one.

Ignatius= the place on Magazine across from Magasin? If so, that place has sucked arse the last several times I've been there. It's about time they take down the "Voted Best New Restaurant" banner they having hanging from 7 years ago
