I think Simon has the toughest job next season in filling in for MC. MC was basically shutdown if we can get 85-90% of MC out of Simon i think the defense has a good shot to be better than last years defense, still pretty loaded everywhere else

Simon's playing time took a real nosedive after drugtestgate. I love watching him play; incredibly strong and physical for a corner.

I'm more concerned about the DT position... We have alot of depth in the secondary

Simon is great cover corner in man but good lord he blows zone like I have never seen in my life. I believe that's another reason why his playing time dipped.

He had to have dropped 5 INTs this year as well.

one of the reasons why i think hes key, he has to improve in that area where MC damn near could have been a reciever.

Simon has played well every time he gets out there. Has a great nose for the ball. This jenkins kid is supposedly incredible.

I think our defense will be very good this coming season but not to the level of last season. There are 3 question marks:

1) How will Simon and Mathieu be as full-time cover corners?

2) Will depth be an issue on the DL? We are in good shape with Logan and AJohnson and MJohnson provides depth. Beyond that, however, we are thin. Those guys will need to play a lot of downs and should, God forbid, one of them go down with an injury we could have a problem.

3) How will the LB corps play? Fortunately, Barrow and TJones played some quality downs last year. We need every LB to step up and take their play to the next level and we need Minter to step up and take on a leadership role.

I feel confident that the players we are counting on are talented and ready to make this coming defense their own.

True. And most the guys we need to take the next step played a lot last season against really tough opponents in pressure-filled situations.
